Leadership LeFlore County is about giving the up-coming young professionals of the LeFlore County demographic area the information and tools to create ways to help make things happen in their work- place, business, organization, and the community.  The class curriculum will teach the important functions of management and types of leadership skills which will help to enhance productivity and the networking connections to achieve goals.  Leadership is an action creating the social influence that enhances and motivates the efforts of others toward a certain task.

Leadership can consist of a variety of positions and attributes. Leaders instill in their people a hope for success and a belief in themselves. Positive Leaders empower people to accomplish their goals.  Defining a great leader depends on several qualities and the desire to succeed.  Some of the key qualities of a great leader are attitude, drive, imagination, and passion.  The 2024 Leadership course touches on all of these during the eight-week session.  LLC is sponsored each year by The LeFlore County Development Coalition, Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service, OG&E, Kiamichi Technology Center, The Community State Bank, The Donald W. Reynolds Center, City of Poteau, Leadership Development and Citizens Engagement and the Poteau Chamber of Commerce.

The application process is to ensure a class consisting of members from diverse backgrounds and locations.  Twenty are chosen annually to attend the nine-week course. Each year we offer a diversified curriculum of studies that will prepare the participants for future leadership roles.    It is great each year to see the past graduates grow in leadership capacities adding to the success of our entire community. Karen Wages, CEO Poteau Chamber of Commerce.
