Poteau Community

if you're headed here, you're headed in the right direction...

Photos avove taken during the 2011 Poteau Balloon Fest.

Poteau is the home of Cavanal, the World's Highest Hill and county seat of LeFlore County. The Poteau Chamber of Commerce welcomes you to our city where the friendly people and business climate are what makes Poteau 'above the ordinary'.

Listed twice in Norman Crampton's book, '100 Best Small Towns in America', Poteau offers the best of small town living with a positive business atmosphere where people can live, work and play. It has become increasingly popular to families and businesses interested in relocating to a smaller community.

Some of the amenities offered by the City of Poteau are two parks - Twyman, with pool and tennis court, and Bill Barber Park with walking track, as well as a recreational complex with ball field. Recent additions are the new Donald W. Reynolds Community Center and a Skate Park. The 2010 Census lists the population as 8,300.
